A Featured Artist Exhibition:
Studio Hue 53 is pleased to present Siempre Aquí, the first Miami featured exhibition by artist Virmari Garcia-Davila. Virmari Garcia-Davila is based in Miami, Florida, where she was predominantly raised and deeply influenced by her Nicaraguan and Guatemalan heritage. Virmari's practice focuses on archiving the lives of her immigrant parents and their cultures to show the true American dream as a child of immigrants. She uses materials embedded with history of labor and the domestic to form dialogues with images. She values the preservations of immigrants stories and her cultures of Guatemala and Nicaragua. Textiles, domestic labor, decay, photographs of her daily life, and the untold stories of immigrants still alive influence her work.
The title of the exhibition speaks to the Hispanic and Latinx experience of arriving here and remaining here, while holding onto individual ideas of what we came to this country to accomplish. There's something about always here that feels both personal and collective, especially in Miami.
Siempre Aquí…to always be here is to exist fully within the presence of one's being and culture. It is to immerse oneself in a state of openness, awareness, and connection to heritage-to remain grounded in where we come from while embracing the fullness of where we are. A suspended moment, carried into forever and held within an always... Siempre Aquí.

She has exhibited works at the Koubek Center, Bridge Red Studio, New World Gallery, Fred Snitzer, Friends of Ixchel Museum, and at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach, Florida.
