An Exhibition of Excess
For Miami Art Week 2026, Studio Hue 53 invites artists to explore the art of excess through maximalism, experimentation, and unapologetic creativity.
TOO MUCH challenges conventional ideas of taste, beauty, and restraint. The exhibition celebrates bold compositions, exaggerated forms, unconventional materials, decorative extravagance, and the unexpected.
From elaborate patterns and saturated colors to surreal imagery, playful absurdity, and unusual combinations of materials, artists are encouraged to embrace the excessive, the theatrical, and the unconventional.
Artists are invited to consider:
When does excess become an art form?
Can something considered tacky, gaudy, or excessive also be beautiful?
What happens when artistic restraint is abandoned?
How can repetition, accumulation, and exaggeration transform ordinary subjects?
Where is the boundary between sophistication and bad taste?
We welcome submissions in painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, assemblage, mixed media, and experimental practices. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme freely. Works may be visually extravagant, conceptually excessive, humorous, provocative, or unexpectedly subtle.
