About the Exhibition

Peter Jooren: A Vision Preserved brings together a diverse and vibrant body of work that explores the interplay between tradition and innovation. Jooren’s portraits resonate on a deeply human level, while his surreal compositions invite viewers into mysterious, imagined worlds.

Born in the Netherlands, Peter Jooren (1940–2016) studied at the Art Academy in Rotterdam in the mid-1960s and remained passionately devoted to painting throughout his life. His early influences included late 19th-century Dutch masters such as Israëls and Maris, which later evolved into explorations of surrealism, sci-fi landscapes, still life, and impressionistic portraiture. Travel played a pivotal role in shaping his artistic vision, enriching his later works with cultural and emotional depth.

A Legacy Preserved

Following Jooren’s passing in 2016, his family founded Jooren Studio to honor his legacy through careful archiving, limited-edition fine art prints, and curated exhibitions. Each project reflects their commitment to preserving his vision and inspiring future generations.
