Discover the joy of creating something with your own hands! In this fun and engaging beginner sewing class, participants will learn the basics of sewing in a supportive, creativity-filled environment.
Perfect for complete beginners, this class introduces essential skills like threading a needle, simple stitching techniques, and the safe and proper use of sewing tools and sewing machines. Each participant will have a sewing machine provided for them to use during the class, so there is no need to bring or own your own machine.
You’ll practice your new skills while completing a small project, such as a plushie, pillow, or tote bag, to take home and be proud of. Along the way, participants will build confidence, patience, and creativity while exploring color, texture, and design.

Julie is a textile artist and sewing educator based in South Florida, specializing in thoughtfully crafted children’s goods and high-quality sewing education. With a background in fashion design from Los Angeles and early experience working alongside designers on custom garments—including wedding gowns—she brings a refined level of skill and care to everything she creates.
As the founder of Wonder Sewn, Julie has created a sewing program where children are encouraged to slow down, focus, and build confidence through hands-on creativity. Her approach blends strong technical foundations with a nurturing, supportive environment, making sewing both accessible and rewarding for beginners.
Guided by a commitment to sustainability, Julie emphasizes mindful making in both her work and her teaching. She incorporates upcycling and refashioning into her practice, giving new life to existing materials, and prioritizes the use of natural fibers whenever possible. Through her classes, students learn not only how to sew, but how to make thoughtful choices about the materials they use and the impact of what they create.
