Stamp Making Workshop: Con Mucho Amor Edition

Learn how to make your own stamp of choice through a process called block printing. We’ll provide you with a rubber block, cutter for carving, brayer roller, ink, and a tote bag to stamp your creation on. Yesi will guide you step-by-step in how to transfer your image to the rubber block, carve out your design, and apply ink.

For this session, we’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage. You’ll design stamps inspired by Latin American art, food and culture! 

Please bring 2 images printed on paper that will fit within 4x6 inches. You may also freehand your design. Images will also be provided.

What is block printing?
Block printing is a printing method that uses hand carved wood, linoleum or rubber blocks to transfer ink onto paper or fabric. The hand carved block serves as a stamp that can be used to create patterns. It is known as one of the oldest forms of all textile printing methods.

Artist Bio

Yesenia “Yesi” Tefel is a Miami native artist with a passion for creativity. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Miami. As a graphic designer and painter, she blends bold colors and a graphic style to her paintings and murals. She uses multiple mediums, including acrylics, oils, and printmaking. Her artwork varies in styles but primarily reflects her interest for both design and the natural world. She is also dedicated to art education, sharing her knowledge in painting and printmaking through her monthly art workshops.

Her artwork has been recognized with the 'Best in Show Award' at the 2015 University of Miami Juried Student Exhibition and was acquired by the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami.
