Color Play: Exploring Color Theory with Juan Sebastian Restrepo
This hands-on color theory workshop introduces foundational color concepts through the versatile and approachable medium of colored pencils. Guided by artist Juan Sebastian Restrepo, participants will explore how colors interact, how to build depth and contrast, and how to make intentional color choices in their drawings.
Through short demonstrations and guided exercises, participants will learn about the color wheel, value, saturation, warm and cool colors, and common color schemes such as complementary, analogous, and monochromatic palettes. The workshop emphasizes practical techniques like layering, blending, and creating smooth gradients—skills that can be applied to any drawing practice.
No prior experience is required. All materials are provided, and participants are welcome to bring their own colored pencils if they have a preferred set. This workshop is ideal for beginners looking to build confidence with color, as well as artists who want to strengthen their technical understanding of color theory in a relaxed, supportive environment.
