Julie is a textile artist and sewing educator based in South Florida, specializing in thoughtfully crafted children’s goods and high-quality sewing education. With a background in fashion design from Los Angeles and early experience working alongside designers on custom garments—including wedding gowns—she brings a refined level of skill and care to everything she creates.
As the founder of Wonder Sewn, Julie has created a sewing program where children are encouraged to slow down, focus, and build confidence through hands-on creativity. Her approach blends strong technical foundations with a nurturing, supportive environment, making sewing both accessible and rewarding for beginners.
Guided by a commitment to sustainability, Julie emphasizes mindful making in both her work and her teaching. She incorporates upcycling and refashioning into her practice, giving new life to existing materials, and prioritizes the use of natural fibers whenever possible. Through her classes, students learn not only how to sew, but how to make thoughtful choices about the materials they use and the impact of what they create.
Julie is passionate about helping children develop real, lasting skills while fostering creativity, patience, and pride in their work. Each class is designed to be engaging and structured, giving students a sense of accomplishment as they create something entirely their own.
Her work reflects a belief in the value of craftsmanship, the importance of creative expression, and the lasting impact of making with intention.
